Join one of our knowledgeable and entertaining guides for a 90-minute walking tour through Atlanta’s past and present. \nThis tour starts at the main gate (main entrance at Oakland Avenue and MLK Jr. Drive). Please arrive a few minutes early to check in inside the Visitor Center (located just outside the main gate). Parking is limited – Marta (King Memorial station is three blocks north of the gate) and rideshare are encouraged. \nSpaces are limited – we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance. \nHistoric Oakland Foundation Members \nHistoric Oakland Foundation memberships include free tickets for Sights\, Symbols\, and Stories tour. Innovative building materials came available and styles changed to reflect the popular architecture of the day\, such as Egyptian and Gothic Revival. New money meant bigger and bolder memorials to reflect the social status and power of prominent families. This tour explores the origin and use of popular Oakland grave markers\, including tombs and towering monuments\, obelisks and angels\, and many magnificent mausoleums.
